KUCHING: Muslims in the state are called upon to reflect and embody the spirit of sacrifice, obedience and sincerity shown by Prophet Ibrahim (Nabi Ibrahim A.S) and Prophet Ismail (Nabi Ismail A.S) in the profound event that forms the foundation of the Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration.

In his Hari Raya Aidiladha message, Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, said the story is not merely a historical account, but a vital guide in shaping the character of a devout Muslim.

“Aidiladha should be understood more broadly and not just as a sacrifice of wealth or livestock, but also in prioritising truth, preserving ties of kinship, and nurturing the values of compassion and piety within oneself, one’s family, and society,” he said.

Wan Junaidi also urged Muslims to use this blessed occasion as a turning point to strengthen unity and improve themselves towards a more blessed way of life.

On this day, the Head of State and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi extended their heartfelt Hari Raya Aidiladha greetings to all Muslims, especially the people of Sarawak, wherever they may be.

They expressed hope that this celebration would be observed in a spirit of gratitude, harmony and love among all.

Wan Junaidi and Fauziah also offered a special prayer for the pilgrims from Sarawak who are currently performing the hajj, the fifth pillar of Islam, in the Holy Land.

“Our prayers are always with the pilgrims. May you be granted health, strength and a blessed hajj (hajj mabrur), insya-Allah,” he said.
