KUCHING: Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, have extended heartfelt wishes to all mothers in conjunction with Mother’s Day.
They said the occasion was a time to reflect on the sacrifices and love of mothers, particularly in raising and nurturing the next generation.
“No treasure in this world can match a mother’s sacrifices – from carrying her child for nine months and ten days to raising, teaching, and guiding them with unconditional love and resilience,” they said.
In the joint message, the couple stressed that the role of a mother shapes the future of the family, community and nation.
They added that a mother’s love is steadfast, poured out in sweat and tears to ensure her children’s well-being and success.
“Through a mother’s nurturing and love, individuals are shaped to be knowledgeable, principled, and competitive, capable of leading the nation towards progress and prosperity,” they added.
They also pointed out that mothers instil values, build character, and cultivate resilience through their daily acts of care and guidance.
The message acknowledged that many great leaders in history were inspired by the strength and wisdom of their mothers.
“Home is the first school, and mothers are the first educators, shaping children’s outlook from an early age,” they said.
Wan Junaidi and wife conveyed their deepest appreciation to mothers for their immeasurable sacrifices and unconditional love.
They prayed that all mothers will be blessed with good health, lasting happiness, and a life full of meaning and dignity.
They also reminded the public that Mother’s Day is not merely about gifts and greetings, but recognising a mother’s enduring role in one’s life.
They said a mother’s strength often goes unspoken, but her unwavering patience remains constant through all of life’s ups and downs.
“A mother’s resilience is beyond words. Despite the exhaustion from work or managing the household, she continues to care for her children with patience and love.
“In times of sorrow or failure, she is there to comfort and uplift us. A mother’s prayer is the most powerful shield and the remedy to all pain,” they said.
The Governor and his wife then urged all to show love and appreciation to their mothers not just today, but throughout their lives.
“For those whose mothers have passed, honour them with prayers and good deeds in memory of their eternal love,” they added.
They stressed that such values strengthen family bonds and uphold virtues that are deeply rooted in faith and culture.
“In Islam, paradise lies beneath the feet of mothers, an expression of the high esteem in which they are held,” they added.
They said while Mother’s Day is globally observed, true appreciation is shown through time, affection and sincere gestures every day.
“The most meaningful gift to a mother is not wealth, but our time, attention and a heartfelt smile,” they said.
