SARIKEI: The United Chinese Association (UCA) Sarikei Division continues to play a vital role in fostering unity and driving the development of the Chinese community here.
This commitment was reaffirmed during its 20th-term Annual General Meeting (AGM) held today on the third floor of the UCA Sarikei building.
It was officiated by Sarikei Member of Parliament cum Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Deputy Minister, Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii.
During the meeting, Huang commended the association for its dedication to preserving cultural heritage and fostering social cohesion.
He highlighted its significant role in organising community programmes, supporting local businesses, and strengthening intergenerational ties.
In his address, he reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives that benefit the Sarikei community, particularly in education, youth development and economic empowerment.
Huang encouraged the association to remain proactive in community-building efforts and assured them of his continuous support in their future endeavours.
He also took the opportunity to highlight the Sarikei-Tanjung Manis road project, which is expected to improve connectivity and boost economic opportunities for local businesses and residents.
To further assist the association in its activities, Huang made a contribution of RM30,000 to support its annual programmes, ensuring that the organisation remains vibrant and active in serving the local community.
