KUCHING: Angkatan Zaman Mangsang (AZAM) Sarawak plays a vital role in supporting the regional development agenda towards 2030 and beyond.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, said the organisation not only serves as a strategic communication channel but also contributes directly to efforts towards fostering an inclusive, resilient society ready to face future challenges.

“AZAM’s role is becoming increasingly significant in supporting the inclusive delivery of the Post-Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, through communication approaches tailored to various segments of society.

“It is important for you to continue conveying the mission of PCDS 2030 as a catalyst agency by playing a role in adding value to government efforts, empowering the people through impactful development programs and initiatives,” he said.

He said this during his speech at AZAM Sarawak’s Gawai celebration event, ‘Begawai Chara Kitai’, at a hotel here last night (Jun 17).

He added that AZAM also empowers the people through various development programmes and initiatives that generate positive impact, thus making communities more prepared to seize opportunities and understand their responsibilities in realizing Sarawak’s aspirations.

Additionally, he acknowledged that although Sarawak has officially attained high-income regional status, there are still segments of the population that have not fully benefited from this progress.

“This is where AZAM can play a crucial role in guiding the people, offering direction and helping them to partake in the progress achieved by 2030, regardless of race, religion, or background,” he said.

Uggah was confident that AZAM will remain relevant and progressive in supporting the vision of the Sarawak government under Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).

Among those present were Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs, Information and UKAS) Datuk Abdullah Saidol, AZAM Sarawak chairman Datuk William Patrick Nyigor and chief executive officer Ali Suhaili.
