KUCHING: Territorial Domain might be the word used to define Pemakai Menoa and Pulau Galau (PMPG). Deputy and Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Modernisation of Agriculture, Native L and and Regional Development , Datuk Ama r Douglas Uggah Embas said yesterday the State Government is still working on the definition for Pulau Galau and Pemakai Menoa .

“I think you must have read CM’s statement a few days ago and I have nothing to add and we are still working on the definition,” he told reporters after officiating at the opening of International Conference on Borneo Book Publishing & Borneo Book Fair 2017 represent ing the Chief Minister, at Waterfront Hotel, here Wednesday.

Uggah said he was in Sibu launching Budaya Iban seminar and he had asked them to put it on the agenda they thought would be the appropriate definition for Pemakai Menoa and Pulau Galau. “We have some proposals, interesting proposals from various parties. As you know a lot of people had meetings and they submitted memoranda and proposals, and so we are studying that,” he added.

Asked if there would be only one definition or different definitions for every ethnic group in the state, he said,“Of course, there is only one definition for Pemakai Menoa and Pulau Galau.

“ It is not for Iban only. That is why we might not use the word Pemakai Menoa, we might use the word “Territorial Domain,” he said.

On this Oct 13, the Federal Court is going to make decision further on a case on Pemakai Menoa and Pulau Galau and there is concern that the decision may not be in favour of the landowners following the previous court decision. To this Uggah said, “Well, you pre-empt the court’s decision.”
