KOTA SAMARAHAN: Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) remains committed to strengthening academic quality through research, innovation and smart collaborations with strategic partners both locally and internationally.
UiTM Pro Chancellor Datuk Professor Emeritus Dr Hassan Said said the academic programmes offered at the Faculty of Management and Business, for instance, had received recognition from prestigious professional bodies such as The Chartered Institute of Marketing and the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.
“The university also prepares its graduates to be critical thinkers, innovative and equipped with leadership qualities to face global challenges.
“As such, various logistics-related activities have been carried out with strategic partners, including the Consulate General of Malaysia in Melbourne, Australia, and in Pontianak, Indonesia.
“UiTM Sarawak branch has also strengthened its regional collaborations, among others with Universitas Tanjungpura in Indonesia, Quanzhou Vocational and Technical University in China, and the National University of Management in Cambodia. Such strategic collaborations open up opportunities for students to gain valuable experiences on the global stage,” he said.
Hassan said this in his speech during the UiTM 102nd Convocation Ceremony at the UiTM Jubilee Hall here yesterday (Sept 18).
He added that in line with the Malaysia Education Development Plan 2015-2025, efforts to enhance academic standards and graduate employability continued to be strengthened through knowledge-sharing activities, conferences and international mobility programmes.
“This exposure provides graduates with opportunities to build global networks, enrich their experiences and sharpen their critical thinking skills.
“We are confident these initiatives will continue to produce highly competitive graduates with relevant competencies in the global job market. Alhamdulillah, as a result of these efforts, UiTM’s graduate employability rate remains impressive at 92.1 percent.
“This achievement is even more meaningful as UiTM has been recognised as the Employer’s Preferred University 2025 by Talentbank,” he added.
Hassan also urged the alumni to give back to the institution that nurtured them, to remain rooted to the ground while reaching for the skies.
“As a Sarawakian once said, ‘We study not just to earn a degree or diploma but as a provision for our future as we grow older.’
“This is the true provision that will guide you in life, far beyond just obtaining a scroll,” he added.
Meanwhile, a total of 267 graduates from the Faculty of Business and Management received their bachelor’s degrees and diplomas during the third session of the ceremony.
