KOTA SAMARAHAN: Overcoming the unique challenges of studying during the COVID-19 pandemic and the Movement Control Order (MCO), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) graduates proudly celebrated their achievements at the convocation ceremony held at Jubilee Hall, UiTM Kota Samarahan Campus yesterday (Dec 4).

For many, the MCO period tested their adaptability and resilience.

Nurul Fatiha Dahlim, 26, a Bachelor’s Degree of Office System Management graduate, reflected on the challenges of online learning, particularly in maintaining effective communication with lecturers and peers.

“The main challenge during the MCO was internet connectivity issues.

“While online classes were possible, we struggled to communicate for group assignments because we couldn’t meet face-to-face.

“We had to find the best solutions for internet-related problems,” she said.

Despite these obstacles, Nurul Fatiha found the experience to be transformative, teaching her independence and effective use of technology.

Her husband, Luqman Hakim, 29, shared that his belief in education as an invaluable investment motivated him to support his wife’s academic journey.

Mohamad Azizan proudly holds his scroll.

“I place great importance on education. Back in 2020, we were engaged, and before we got married, I felt it was better for her to complete her studies.

“I provided a lot of moral support, and if she had trouble navigating UiTM systems like the student portal, I was always ready to help,” Luqman said.

Another notable graduate, Mohamad Azizan Jami, 27, a Bachelor’s Degree of Office System Management student of Kedayan descent, was awarded the Vice-Chancellor’s Award (ANC) for his exceptional performance.

Azizan, who hails from Limbang, demonstrated his commitment to education despite the difficulties of the MCO, where all learning and assignments were conducted online.

“This was the main challenge we faced. We only started face-to-face learning in the fourth semester.

“However, I am happy and grateful for this achievement, especially to my parents, who have always given me unwavering support,” he said, beaming with pride after receiving the ANC award.
