LONDON, England: United Kingdom (UK) passengers travelling home on Christmas Eve faced difficulties after rail services from a major airport were disrupted due to staff shortages, reported PA Media/dpa.

Great Western Railway (GWR) said services between Reading and London’s Gatwick Airport would be disrupted on Wednesday due to a shortage of train staff.

In a post on the social media platform X, GWR said: “Due to a shortage of train crew between Reading and Gatwick Airport the line is disrupted. Train services to and from these stations may be subject to disruption on all routes.”

The Royal Automobile Club said it expected festive car journeys to peak at about 4.2 million on Christmas Eve, while regular commuter traffic was “likely to be far lighter”. – BERNAMA-PA Media/dpa
