SINGAPORE: A delegation from the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) is currently in the Lion City to study Singapore’s successful strategies in strengthening citizen-government relations.

The delegation, led by Sarawak Deputy Secretary (Operations) Datuk Hii Chang Kee, paid a courtesy call on the People’s Association at Our Tampines Hub yesterday.

Hii and the UKAS team, including its director Awang Putrayusrie Awang Redzuan and nine officers, were warmly welcomed by Lim Wei Lian, senior director of Human Resources at the People’s Association.

Discussions during the meeting also focused on key areas such as service delivery, community hub initiatives and volunteer engagement programmes — all designed to enhance public trust and participation.

The association shared valuable insights into its comprehensive approach to managing volunteers and the various committees established under its umbrella.

It also emphasised the important role of digital tools and innovative technologies in managing its extensive network of community centres efficiently.

Following the session, the delegation toured the ServiceSG Centre, also located within Our Tampines Hub.

The visit provided an opportunity to observe first-hand how multiple government services are integrated under one roof.

Of particular interest to the delegation were the 24-hour self-service kiosks and teleconferencing facilities, which improve accessibility and allow direct interaction between citizens and government officials.
