KUCHING: Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) is all geared up, mobilising its resources and network to ensure the successful rollout of the ‘Sarawakku Sayang’ programme, starting with its launch in Limbang next week.

UKAS Director, Awang Putrayusrie Awang Redzuan, said this marks the first time it is being held in Lawas, scheduled for April 10 to April 12, to be officially launched by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg on April 12 (Saturday), and a soft opening on April 10 (Friday) by State Secretary, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki.

“The involvement of UKAS focuses mainly on the organising and publicity committees for ‘Sarawakku Sayang’ across all 12 divisions in Sarawak.

“Under UKAS, there is a dedicated committee comprising UKAS, RTM, Information Department, TVS, CatsFM, and all media agencies under the UKAS coordination.

“Meetings have already been held, and all parties have been requested to collaborate in promoting the programme on their respective platforms. RTM will have its own segments and broadcasting booths at all locations.

“UKAS will also be provided space to promote its initiatives at every ‘Sarawakku Sayang’ venue. At the same time, promotional jingles are being prepared across platforms such as CatsFM and RTM to support the campaign,” he said when met by reporters at his Hari Raya Open House at his residence here on Saturday.

He added ‘Sarawakku Sayang’ will be held throughout all divisions, beginning in April and expected to conclude in November 2026, ending in Kuching.

“Some dates may change due to several overlapping major events this year, including the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s celebration in Betong, Sarawak Day in Sibu, National Day in Kapit, Malaysia Day and the TYT’s birthday in Kuching.

“As these events coincide with ‘Sarawakku Sayang’, some locations may experience slight schedule adjustments,” he added.

Thus far, he said promotional efforts have been carried out by all involved parties.

“The format of ‘Sarawakku Sayang’ is slightly different this time, with a stronger focus on service delivery by government agencies.

“Exhibitions will be organised by the ‘Sarawakku Sayang’ secretariat under the Project Monitoring Unit of the Sarawak Premier’s Department, involving selected agencies.

“In addition, other ministries such as the Sarawak Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts (MTCP), Ministry for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Sarawak (MySED) and the Ministry of Education will also participate, focusing mainly on service-oriented initiatives,” he said, adding that ‘Sarawakku Sayang’ is a brainchild of the Sarawak State Government and is almost similar in concept to ‘Sejiwa Senada’.

He also said, for each ‘Sarawakku Sayang’ programme, if it is held in the rural areas, the Residents in their respective division has the flexibility to propose the venue.

“Each division will also highlight its own development programmes and projects during the event. These will be showcased as part of the ‘Sarawakku Sayang’ sessions. UKAS has also been tasked with producing development videos for each division involved,” he said.

In terms of manpower, Awang Putrayusrie said UKAS will involve staff from its headquarters as well as divisional offices.

“At the same time, UKAS staff will serve as part of the secretariat to the Resident’s Office, working alongside the divisional ‘Sarawakku Sayang’ committees and local media agencies,” he said.
