KUCHING: The Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) aims to forge strategic collaborations with the Sarawak State Library (Pustaka) to enhance the dissemination of state government policies and initiatives to the public.
UKAS Director, Awang Putrayusrie Awang Redzuan, stated that Pustaka played an important role in disseminating information and serving as a public reference centre, which was closely aligned with UKAS’ mission.
“This courtesy call is aimed at exploring possible strategic collaborations between UKAS and the Sarawak State Library.
“The Sarawak State Library organises many activities that we could jointly participate in, especially in disseminating the Sarawak government’s policies and initiatives more widely,” he said.
Awang Putrayusrie said this during a courtesy visit to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Sarawak State Library, Japri Bujang Masli, on Thursday.
The UKAS Director also proposed that the two entities work together to organise activities and programmes in conjunction with the Sarawak Day 2025 celebration.
Among the initiatives planned is an exhibition on the historical journey leading to the proclamation of Sarawak Day as well as key initiatives by the Premier of Sarawak and the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.
To ensure a wider public reach, Awang Putrayusrie proposed that the exhibitions be held at Pustaka branches in Kuching, Sibu and Miri.
Meanwhile, Japri welcomed the proposal from UKAS and expressed readiness to collaborate, noting that Pustaka was committed to ensuring that any information related to state government policies and initiatives was effectively delivered to the rakyat.
The two-hour meeting also served as a platform for both heads of departments to exchange insights on the roles and functions of their respective agencies.
Both parties also shared constructive ideas and perspectives aimed at enhancing services and strengthening information dissemination to benefit the wider community.
