SKRANG: The Government has allocated RM28.5 million to implement the Ulu Skrang Road Upgrading Project Phase II in Engkilili, according to Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.
He said the project phase II in Engkilili area is expected to begin in the first quarter of next year and will involve four main works.
“The first work is to build several steel and concrete bridges to replace the existing temporary wooden bridges that have been damaged, most of which are currently not passable by vehicles and pedestrians.
“Three more works that will be undertaken through this upgrading project are to build sewers, repair the damaged road surface and repair the drains in this area,” he said.
Uggah said this when launching the Gawai Bazaar 2017 and Ulu Skarang Upgrading Project Phase II of State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Engkilili at the Skrang Scheme yesterday.
He also added that the upgrading project will benefit 15 longhouses and three primary schools in Ulu Skrang including one health clinic in Nanga Entalau.
“Thus it is hoped that the upgrading of this road will be able to further enhance the level of social and economic life of the people in Engkilili especially in Ulu Skrang,” he said.
At the ceremony, Uggah also announced an allocation of RM20,000 to the Organising Committee of Engkilili Gawai Bazaar 2017 to help hold and promote their activities.
Also present at the ceremony were Lubok Antu Member of Parliament Datuk William Nyalau Badak, Engkilili State Assemblyman Dr Johnnical Ngipa Rayong, Sri Aman Resident Indit Bangai, Lubok Antu District Officer Richard Ngumbang, government officials and local community leaders.
