BETONG: Two longhouses in Ulu Spak, namely Temedak and Jelang, will soon enjoy better connectivity as the access roads to the longhouses will be upgraded under the rural road project.
Betong Member of Parliament, Datuk Dr Richard Rapu, stated that the allocation for the project comes under the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development.
“The goal is to upgrade the access roads to Ajang Tibu Longhouse in Temedak and Empaling Janting Longhouse in Jelang,” he told reporters yesterday.
He said work on the project is expected to begin this year and marks an important step in the government’s efforts to improve rural infrastructure, especially in the interior of Betong.
“This will not only ease the movement of residents, but also enhance safety and open up more economic opportunities for the local community.
“This initiative also reflects the government’s continued commitment to ensuring that no community is left behind in the development wave,” he added.
On Tuesday, officers from the Public Works Department (PWD), Betong Division along with officers from the Layar Constituency Service Centre conducted a site visit.
The visit was to assess the condition at the location and identify technical requirements before the commencement of construction work.
