BAU: A near-miss fire incident occurred at an eatery along Jalan Tasik Biru By-Pass last night (Jan 15) when a cooking pot left unattended on a gas stove.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firefighters from Bau station were dispatched to the scene after receiving an emergency call at 10.12 pm.
Upon arrival, the team confirmed smoke emanating from the premises and a preliminary investigation revealed that the smoke was caused by a cooking pot left on the stove while the owner was out at the market.
Fortunately, the owner returned in time after being alerted by a neighbour and managed to prevent further damage.
The owner turned off the gas stove and moved the burnt pot to the back of the shop before the team arrived.
Firefighters inspected and monitored the situation to ensure it was safe before ending the operation at 10.33 pm.
