KUCHING: The Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) of Kawasan Simpang Tiga Kenyalang brought festive cheer to underprivileged students in conjunction with Sarawak Day 2025 celebrations.

Led by chairman Kapitan Tan Cho Yian, the committee distributed goodie bags filled with basic necessities to B40 students of SJK Chung Hua No. 5, aiming to ease their learning journey and showing solidarity with lower-income families.

The symbolic handover was witnessed by MBKS councillor Albert Tay and school principal Tay Kok Ing, who praised the committee’s efforts in promoting community engagement and inclusivity.

“We wanted the children to feel celebrated and supported — this is what Sarawak Day is all about.

“It’s not just a holiday, but a chance for us to reach out and uplift others,” said Tan during the event.

The JKKK expressed hope that this act of giving would encourage more grassroots initiatives across the state, particularly those that support education and social welfare.
