MUKAH: Narcotics police arrested a jobless man for allegedly possessing suspected methamphetamine in Kampung Petanak here yesterday.
The arrest was made by the roadside at around 11.20 am after the narcotics team suspected him to be involved in drug abuse activities.
Mukah police chief DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias said further checks led to the discovery of a straw tube containing crystalline substances believed to be methamphetamine.
“The drugs, weighing 0.55g with an estimated value of RM110, was seized.
“Both the suspect and seized drugs were taken to the police station, where preliminary urine test returned positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine,” he said.
During questioning, he confessed that he had been abusing drugs since May this year.
Rizal said the suspect has been remanded for three days until Nov 14 to facilitate investigations under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
