KUCHING: An unemployed man has been sentenced to 12 months in prison for intentionally injuring his mother and sister.
The incident took place last Monday (July 17) at their residence in Matang around 10.30 pm.
Ameeruddin, 30, pleaded guilty to three charges in court.
In the first charge, he caused injury to his 59-year-old mother by hitting her with a glass bowl. In the second charge, he caused injury to his 33-year-old sister by using car keys and a water filter.
He was charged under Section 324 of the Penal Code along with Section 326A for both offenses.
Additionally, he faced a charge under Section 506 of the Penal Code for threatening to kill the two victims.
During the incident, the complainant was their younger sister, who was contacted by her injured sister about Ameeruddin’s aggressive behaviour.
The cause of the incident was that Ameeruddin had asked his sister for a car key, but when she refused to give it to him, he became enraged and punched their mother, causing her to fall.
When the sister finally handed over the car key, Ameeruddin continued to punch her in the body. He also threatened to kill both of them and searched for a knife, but he didn’t find one.
The mother, fearing for her life, tried to escape into a room, but Ameeruddin threw a glass bowl, hitting the back of her head.
Ameeruddin kept attacking both victims, repeatedly punching them and poking his sister’s ear and stomach with a key. He even threw a water filter at his sister.
As a result of the incident, both victims felt threatened and traumatised.
The complainant made a police report to take further action and investigate the matter.
During the court proceedings, Ameeruddin was not represented by a lawyer, and the case was handled by Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohammad Fauzan Zamri.
