SERIAN: Uni City emerged champions of the Kampung Temong Mawang nine-a-side Football Tournament 2025 after a convincing 5-1 victory over Frenzo FC in the final held at the Kampung Temong Mawang football field in Tebedu.
With the win, Uni City walked away with RM2,000 in cash, a trophy and medals, while runners-up Frenzo FC received RM1,000 along with a trophy and medals.
Third place was jointly secured by Belia Sadir and Lan United, with both teams taking home RM500 each, as well as trophies and medals.
The tournament, organised by the Kampung Temong Mawang Youth Association and the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK), attracted a total of 32 teams and was held from Dec 7, 2025, culminating in the final on Jan 1.
Tournament chairman Sawet Osen said the event was sponsored by Serian Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Richard Riot Jaem, with the aim of strengthening unity and promoting sportsmanship among communities in the Tebedu and Serian areas.
The prize presentation ceremony was officiated by Riot at the football field earlier in the evening.
Later that night, a Pemimpin Bersama Rakyat (Leaders-Meet-the-People) programme was held at the Sri Sinangken Multipurpose Hall in Kampung Temong Mawang.
Despite a power outage that night, Riot commended the organisers for their commitment and thanked residents for turning up in large numbers to support the programme.
During the event, he also officiated at the opening of a newly completed grandstand and safety fencing behind the goalposts at the football field, which were built through a Special Grant allocation from the Serian parliamentary office.
Among those present were Pemanca Kane Manong, Penghulu Gaup Takip, Kapitan Voong Nyuk Diyung, Kampung Temong Mawang headman Peter Tatong, SK Temong headmaster Bigun Kulak, Serian District Council Cr Pansin Bajah and local community leaders.
