KUCHING: An unidentified man was killed in an apparent hit-and-run incident along Jalan Setia Raja this morning.
Kuching police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said the accident is believed to have occurred at around 4.30 am.
“The victim, a male pedestrian in his 30s, was found without any identification and is believed to have been struck by an unknown vehicle.
“Paramedics from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) confirmed his death at the scene at 4.45 am,” he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
Mohd Farhan urged the public who may have witnessed the accident or those who have lost a family member, to contact the traffic investigation officer Insp Charlie Aloysius at 014-8682068, 082-259900 or the nearest police station.
Meanwhile, road users are advised to always exercise caution and obey the traffic laws to ensure their safety and that of others.
