PADAWAN: The Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR) fund expenditure report must be prepared with full transparency to prevent any misappropriation of funds.
Deputy Minister of Transport (Road and Air) Datuk Dr Jerip Susil said all aid recipients are required to submit regular financial reports to the authorities, ensuring accountability in fund management.
“This includes undergoing a thorough audit process to maintain public trust in this programme,” he said after chairing a progress report meeting on the Houses Of Worship Fund Assistance Project at the Padawan Subdistrict Office, here last Monday.
Dr Jerip, who is also the Mambong assemblyman, expressed concern over the financial management capabilities of some churches and called for better guidance and training at the grassroots level to ensure effective use of funds.
Jerip stressed the need for sound financial management and active community participation to sustain assistance for houses of worship, regardless of religious background.
“One of the main initiatives introduced is a new payment plan to replace the old practice of relying on informal applications.
“This measure is expected to improve the transparency of financial flows and ensure every transaction is properly recorded and audited,” he added.
