MIRI: The Sarawak Government continues to uphold its commitment to religious harmony and inclusivity with the latest RM500,000 allocation from the Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR) to Gurdwara Sahib Miri.

The cheque was presented on Friday by Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts I (Tourism) who is also Piasau Assemblyman, Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew, to the temple management on behalf of UNIFOR.

“I am very pleased to return here today to hand over this cheque. Thank you for the continuous efforts and efficient management by the temple committee,” said Ting during a press conference after the event.

He also conveyed a message from the Deputy Premier and Chairman of UNIFOR, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, urging that every fund disbursed be fully utilised and its usage reported transparently and properly.

“There have been cases where recipients forgot to cash the cheque or intentionally withheld the allocation without spending it, making it difficult for them to apply for future assistance.

“Therefore, it is very important that these funds are used and reported appropriately,” stressed Ting.
