SIBU: Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) continued its efforts to bring higher education closer to the community by collaborating with SMK Sacred Heart to host a Foreign Language Roadshow.

UNIMAS, in a press release, said the event brought together students from six secondary schools across Sibu.

“Held at SMK Sacred Heart, the programme saw the participation of 300 students in a series of interactive activities focused on three foreign languages which are Japanese, Korean, and French.

“Students had the chance to engage in language quizzes, cultural exhibitions, and hands-on sessions in writing foreign scripts, aimed at sparking their interest in language learning and global culture,” it said today (June 21).

The university said the initiative builds on a strategic partnership between UNIMAS and the school that dates back to 2018, reflecting a shared commitment to enriching language education at the grassroots level.

“Six lecturers from the Faculty of Education, Language, and Communication (FPBK) at UNIMAS were actively involved in conducting the sessions and guiding students throughout the day.”

The event was officiated by SMK Sacred Heart Management Board secretary Dr Gregory Hii, who commended the university’s efforts in promoting foreign language proficiency and nurturing globally conscious youth.
