KOTA SAMARAHAN: The collaboration between Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) and the Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp) Sarawak is crucial in ensuring that the university’s students gain higher-level skills.

UNIMAS Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Ahmad Hata Rasit said the collaboration was carried out in conjunction with National Training Week (NTW) 2025, noting that through this partnership, students participating in NTW programmes not only acquire advanced skills but are also able to increase their income.

“With initiatives like this, we are not only transforming a university like UNIMAS, but we are also capable of changing companies and society as a whole

“NTW programmes are not only for those who are already employed but are also open to job seekers, whom we warmly welcome to join.

“We carry out this programme every year, and inshaAllah, next year we plan to expand these courses further to last for a full week,” he said.

He was speaking to reporters after officiating the High Impact Partner programme at DeTAR Putra, UNIMAS, here today (June 16).

Meanwhile, HRD Corp Sarawak Region chief Tuty Bujang said a total of 98 free programmes are being offered throughout the week in conjunction with NTW 2025.

She said the ongoing programme from June 14 to 21 involves various activities across Malaysia.

“As for Sarawak, we found that a total of 300,000 people have taken part in various NTW 2025 programmes.

“The participation not only involves Sarawakians but also has attracted participants from ASEAN countries. I view this figure as a very encouraging achievement for this year’s NTW,” she said.
