OSAKA, Japan: Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) has achieved another significant milestone in its internationalisation journey through the signing of strategic partnerships with two prominent Japanese institutions, Chuo University and Kyoto Prefectural University, during the prestigious Expo 2025 here.
The official document exchange ceremony was officiated by UNIMAS vice-chancellor, Professor Dr Ahmad Hata Rasit, and graced by senior representatives from the partner institutions, including Professor Dr Hisashi Kawai, president of Chuo University, vice-president Professor Dr Maki Kunimatsu, and Ryuzo Masaki, international exchange coordinator of Kyoto Prefectural University.
These collaborations are set to catalyse broad-based opportunities in student mobility, joint research and academic exchange, particularly in areas of mutual priority such as green technology, sustainability and inclusive community development, reflecting aligned strategic aspirations between Sarawak and Japan.
“This partnership marks more than just academic diplomacy.
“It represents our collective effort to co-create real-world solutions that benefit both local and global communities.
“It is a testament to our shared commitment to impactful global engagement,” said Dr Ahmad.
The partnership not only strengthens UNIMAS’ academic network but also reinforces bilateral ties between Malaysia and Japan in the fields of higher education, research innovation and cultural understanding.
