KUALA LUMPUR: A Sarawakian postgraduate from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) has won the Kajian BIM Terbaik (Pascasiswazah) award at the JKR BIM Day 2025, held on October 1.

Chin Lin Wei, from the Faculty of Built Environment, beat 102 other participants nationwide with her research, “BIMATRIX Mobile App Prototype: Enhancing BIM Adoption in the Project Lifecycle of Sarawak Construction Industry.”

The project was supervised by Assoc Prof Dr Afzan Ahmad Zaini.

The BIMATRIX app prototype is designed to support Building Information Modelling (BIM) adoption across Sarawak’s construction projects.

It improves collaboration, eases data access, and helps stakeholders coordinate efficiently.

According to a statement by UNIMAS, the award highlights UNIMAS’s commitment to research that benefits industry and aligns with government digitalisation initiatives, especially in Sarawak.

JKR BIM Day, organised biannually by the Public Works Department, promotes BIM awareness, research, and implementation nationwide, drawing participants from academia, industry, and government.
