KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg’s transformative vision for Sarawak has resonated with people across the state, thanks to his ability to convey complex ideas in a simple and relatable manner.

Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) Vice-Chancellor Dr Ahmad Hata Rasit praised the Premier’s skill in explaining intricate concepts, which have made his vision accessible to both urban and rural communities.

“As academics, we often use terminology that is hard for ordinary people to understand. However, the Premier has an extraordinary ability to simplify complex ideas, making them easily accessible to everyone. With the quality of his explanation, the message quickly reaches the hearts of the people, not only in the city but also outside the city,” he told Sarawak Tribune in an exclusive interview recently.

Ahmad Hata also highlighted the Premier’s notable achievements in driving Sarawak’s digital transformation and championing environmental conservation, which has positioned the state as a global leader.

“Over the past eight years, Sarawak has undergone extraordinary changes under his leadership. His initiatives have brought significant progress,” he added.

He then reiterated UNIMAS’s commitment to supporting the Premier’s vision, particularly in biodiversity, environmental conservation, and community preservation. He assured that UNIMAS would work closely with the Premier to ensure the successful implementation of proposed projects.

“We are dedicated to leveraging our expertise to transform Sarawak into a developed region by 2030. Together with the Premier, we will continue working for the well-being of the people of Sarawak,” he said.

Ahmad Hata expressed hope about extending Sarawak’s prosperity beyond its borders to benefit the entire Borneo region.

“God willing, together we can benefit the community, not only in Sarawak but also around Kalimantan and Borneo. It is hoped that we will not only focus on prosperity and transformation in Sarawak but also on how we can transform Borneo. We are on the same island after all,” he added.
