BINTULU: A group of 20 student volunteers from UNIMAS Post-Flood Volunteer Mission participated in cleanup efforts in flood-affected areas in Bintulu.
This volunteer mission was a collaborative effort led by the Public University Volunteer Council (MASKUM) under the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT), alongside UNIMAS Student Representative Council, UNIMAS SISPA Corps, and the UNIMAS Student Volunteer Club.
Upon arriving in Bintulu, the volunteers commenced their mission by cleaning the Sri Rajang Residential College Block and several offices and sports facilities affected by flooding.
The volunteers continued their mission at the Sebauh District Office Quarters, cleaning four flood-affected residences and distributing ‘Bakul Ihsan Madani KPT-UNIMAS’ aid packages to residents, including those at the SMK Sebauh Temporary Evacuation Centre (PPS) on Saturday.
According to the Programme Leader, Aileen Anne Jinggong, who is also assistant Registrar of UNIMAS and a MASKUM UNIMAS officer, the programme aims to assist flood victims while fostering a spirit of volunteerism among students.
“We hope this small contribution can ease the burden of flood victims while also providing a meaningful humanitarian experience for our volunteers,” she said.
The mission reflects UNIMAS’ commitment to supporting the local communities while instilling values of leadership and social responsibility among its students.
