PUTRAJAYA: No evidence has emerged linking the Philippine Government to the demands made by eight individuals claiming to be heirs of the Sulu Sultanate regarding Sabah’s status within Malaysia.

During a session at the Dewan Rakyat, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasised Malaysia’s unwavering stance on national sovereignty, stating that the country does not entertain any claims challenging its authority.

Anwar further reaffirmed Malaysia’s position on Sabah as a sovereign state during his recent meeting with President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr. Despite the ongoing claims, he highlighted the positive bilateral relations between Malaysia and the Philippines.

Assuring the nation, Anwar pledged to take all necessary actions to safeguard Malaysia’s sovereignty in this matter.

Recently, Minister in the Prime Minister Department (Law and Institutional Reforms) Azalina Othman Said declared that the Sulu Group can no longer rely on the flawed decision made in France back in February 2022 for any purpose.

With the recent ruling in Malaysia’s favour, the Paris Court of Appeal recognized that the arbitrator, Dr Gonzalo Stampa, had overstepped his jurisdiction, solidifying Malaysia’s sovereignty and jurisdiction over Sabah.
