BINTULU: Jepak assemblyman, Iskandar Turkee, highlighted the importance of unity within the community as a fundamental pillar for fostering harmony and advancing village development.

He praised the strong cooperation and mutual understanding demonstrated by the leadership of Kampung Baru Darat, Kampung Baru Tengah, Kampung Baru Laut, and the Darussalam Mosque of Kampung Baru Tengah, in collaboration with local residents.

He called for this collective spirit to serve as a model for the younger generation, encouraging them to uphold communal values and social harmony.

“This kind of unity is truly commendable and must be nurtured so that the younger generation continues to embrace the spirit of togetherness and solidarity,” he said at the Majlis Ramah Tamah Aidilfitri Kampung Baru 2025, held at the Kampung Baru Multi-Purpose Hall yesterday.

He stressed that such a culture of consensus and mutual respect should not be confined to festive events like Aidilfitri but should be incorporated into everyday life to ensure the community thrives in unity while facing the challenges of development.

The event, which saw over 500 residents in attendance, was further enlivened by cultural performances, festive songs, and a traditional feast.

Prizes were awarded to the winners of several competitions, including ‘azan’ (call to prayer), ‘hafazan’ (Qur’an memorisation), and festive lighting contests, with Hasnah Sepawi emerging as the grand winner of the Hari Raya lighting competition.
