SIBU: A total of 140 people including pupils, parents and guests enlivened the appreciation ceremony of Taman Soon Hup Bunga Orkid Unity Kindergarten (SHBOUK) held at the Li Hua Hotel here on Sunday night (Dec 21).
The ceremony, organised by the SHBOUK ‘s Coordinating Committee, was to celebrate the six-year-old children who would be entering Year One in next year’s school session.
Sibu Division National Unity and Integration Officer, Jendri Mangku who was the guest of honour, said the Unity Kindergarten pupils had not only completed their basic learning but had also built their confidence, character and embraced the spirit of unity which were important for their development.
“It is in this kindergarten that they learnt their first letters, made their first friends and learnt to be independent.
“Congratulations to all the six-year-old pupils who successfully completed the learning session,” she said.
Jendri said the event was not only a symbol of the end of the learning session but also a manifestation of hope for the young generation who would become the future heirs of the country.
She also expressed her appreciation to the parents and guardians who always supported the kindergarten programme and the Unity Department.
“Community support is very important. Without the presence and cooperation of parents, efforts to strengthen unity among children will not be achieved effectively,” she stressed.
Meanwhile, Jendri also expressed her appreciation to the teachers who had poured their devotion, patience and love into educating the children.
“Indeed, the role of teachers is very important in shaping the character, noble values and spirit of unity in the young generation from the beginning,” she added.
The event also featured the presentation of certificates, student performances, exchange of gifts, lucky ticket draws and photo sessions with families.
Also present were Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS) Sibu Division Officer Jelani Ajang, the programme coordinating chairman Awangku Mohamad Bolkiah and assistant Unity Officer Dayang Nordiatullisa.
