KUCHING: Yayasan Perpaduan Sarawak (YPS) has reiterated its call for all Malaysians to embrace unity, respect, and understanding, particularly in matters of religious beliefs, customs, and traditions.
YPS chief executive Datuk Aloysius Dris echoed Minister of National Unity Datuk Aaron Dagang’s recent remarks on the need to curb religious provocation to safeguard national harmony.
“We live in a multi-religious and multicultural society, and all Malaysians must remain committed to upholding unity, practicing tolerance, and fostering understanding in our daily lives,” Aloysius said in a statement today (Feb 7).
He emphasised that unity must be preserved, just as the nation’s early leaders envisioned when forming the federation.
“I strongly believe Datuk Aaron’s firm stance against religious provocation must be taken seriously to ensure the safety and harmony of all Malaysians,” he added.
Reaffirming YPS’ mission to promote peace and harmony in Sarawak through cultural understanding, Aloysius noted that while religious tensions are not a major issue in the state, Sarawak serves as a model for Malaysia on how to coexist and thrive through tolerance and mutual respect.
