SIBU: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) shoulders a great responsibility as the main pillar of the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government in ensuring the state’s political stability while safeguarding the continuity of development for the people.

According to Sayed Azmee Wan Junaidi, a political secretary to the Premier of Sarawak, PBB’s role goes beyond being a dominant party as it also serves as a platform to ensure that the people’s voices are prioritised in every development agenda.

He said this responsibility requires a strong commitment from all party members to remain united.

“As the backbone of GPS, we cannot be divided. This unity is important so that all development plans can continue, and the benefits are felt by all levels of society,” he said at the PBB N.54 Pelawan Aidilfitri reception at the Islamic Complex here on Sunday (April 5).

Sayed Azmee, who represented Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee, also stressed that the strength of a government depends largely on unity within the party.

He said internal harmony would give the government an advantage in implementing policies more smoothly and effectively.

He also reminded party members not to take the threat of division lightly, especially with elections approaching and political challenges becoming increasingly complex.

“We need to move as a team. Platforms like this event should be utilised to strengthen ties and solidarity,” he said.

PBB N.54 Pelawan Branch Chairman, Councillor Syed Hamzah Wan Hamid Edruce, who also spoke at the event, described differences of opinion in politics as normal but said they must be managed wisely for the common good.

He stressed that party members must continue to stand firmly behind the leadership that has delivered development for the people.

“The elections are approaching. We must ensure that the party machinery is ready and remains united to guarantee the victory of GPS,” he said.

Syed Hamzah added that division would only weaken the party and affect development efforts that have been planned and implemented.

The event was also attended by Temenggong Datuk Seri Wan Hamid Edruce Tuanku Mohamad; Sibu Municipal Council’s Deputy Chairman, Councillor Mohammad Abdullah Izkandar Roseley; as well as PBB members from several branches in the central region.
