NEW YORK: The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) called on the Israeli occupation authorities to lift their siege on the Gaza Strip, which has escalated since March 2, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported.

UNRWA stressed that “desperation has reached a tipping point” in the Strip amid a dire humanitarian crisis.

In a statement by UNRWA on the X platform, UNRWA warned of the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza due to the siege, forced displacement orders, and intense Israeli bombardment.

It noted that desperation has reached a tipping point as families are searching for food and essential supplies, while thousands are being forced to flee.

The occupation continues its policy of systematic starvation against nearly 2.4 million people in Gaza by closing border crossings to humanitarian aid, which has been piling up at the borders since March 2.

This has pushed the Strip into a state of famine and claimed many lives. – BERNAMA
