SEMATAN: Pesta Sematan 2023 has the potential to expose hidden gems nestled within Lundu, Sematan and the broader southern region of Sarawak, says Azizul Annuar Adenan.
The Tanjung Datu assemblyman elaborated that the abundant variety of flora and fauna indigenous to the area possesses the potential to captivate tourists and visitors. This aligns harmoniously with the festival’s theme, ‘Sematan, Nature, Paradise.’
Notably, Tanjung Datu holds the distinction of hosting five national parks, a unique facet that positions it as a beacon for attracting a burgeoning influx of tourists and visitors.
“I hope that the federal Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture is able to provide more opportunities for the locals here in Sematan,” he said.
Moreover, he aspires for the festival’s programmes to foster mutual benefit, catering both to the visitors and the local vendors who contribute to the vibrant atmosphere.
“We are immensely delighted to witness the festive spirit, which contributes to the resounding success of this event,” Azizul affirmed.
The official inauguration of Pesta Sematan 2023 was graced by federal Tourism, Arts and Culture Deputy Minister Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan.
Khairul underscored the festival’s unique allure and its potential to draw a broader audience to the region.“Through such events, the promotion of the region’s distinctiveness becomes feasible, enabling the public to intimately acquaint themselves with its exceptional character.”
“I believe, with the collaboration between the state government and the federal government, arts and culture in this region can further advance and move forward,” he added.
