WHILE Sri Aman continues to engage in various infrastructure and construction projects aimed at enhancing regional development, it has resulted in the deterioration of many connecting roads and alleyways within Sri Aman, causing damage and minor accidents, especially at night.

Lingga Assemblywoman, Dayang Noorazah Awang Sohor, has urged the Public Health, Housing and Local Government Ministry to allocate additional funds from the existing annual budget to the Sri Aman District Council.

“This support will facilitate not only the repair of urban roads but also the upgrading of roads, the construction of ditches and gutters, and the installation of solar street lighting in rural areas, with particular emphasis,” she said.

She said this during her debate in support of the motion of appreciation for the Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar’s speech in the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) today.

She then said that the condition of the running track at the Sri Aman Division Sports Complex is very unsatisfactory.

“Therefore, I am requesting the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development or the Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC) to allocate funds to upgrade the running track at the Sri Aman Division Sports Complex so that it is suitable and safe for use, especially by schoolchildren,” she added.

Dayang Noorazah further stated that Wan Junaidi’s speech reflects the genuine concern and transparency of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and the state government in upholding the trust bestowed upon them by Sarawakians.

“As the adage ‘Rome wasn’t built in a day’ eloquently reminds us, significant achievements require time and concerted effort, and great progress is often the result of persistent dedication.

“We remain confident that under Abang Johari’s leadership and the guiding vision of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), the state is well-positioned to make further strides toward economic sustainability, political stability, and community prosperity,” she stated.
