BINTULU: Students of Sekolah Menengah Kai Dee can now enjoy sports activities in a more comfortable and safer environment following the recent completion of the school’s badminton court upgrade.

The project was funded under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) allocation for the Tanjong Batu constituency and was officially handed over by Tanjong Batu assemblyman, Johnny Pang Leong Ming, to the Chairman of SM Kai Dee’s Board of Management, Datuk Pui Kian Onn.

According to Pang, the previous court was in a dilapidated condition, with damaged floors, broken windows, and inadequate ventilation, posing risks to students’ safety while participating in sports activities.

“Based on our inspection, I approved RTP funding to implement crucial upgrades to ensure this facility can be used in a more comfortable and secure manner,” he said.

The upgrade works included the installation of three new badminton court mats, new windows, additional lighting for both the badminton and basketball courts, six ventilation fans, and the enclosure of open wall sections to improve both safety and air circulation.

Pang also praised the contractor’s commitment to completing the works on schedule and voluntarily repainting the court walls at no extra charge.

“I deeply appreciate the cooperation of all parties involved. I hope the school community will make the most of this facility and take good care of it responsibly,” he added.

He also expressed hope that the improvements would encourage greater student participation in sports and co-curricular activities, contributing positively to their overall well-being.
