SERIAN: The newly upgraded Serian Division Mosque is set to become a new landmark in the constituency, with its official handover scheduled for mid-January 2025, pending approvals from the Fire and Rescue Department and other relevant authorities.
The Sarawak Islamic Council (SIC) president Datuk Misnu Taha expressed his satisfaction with the completion of the project.
He also proposed that the mosque serve as the host venue for next year’s state-level Nuzul Al-Quran celebration, emphasising its potential as a significant hub for religious and community activities.
“I recommend that the mosque’s Management Committee plan activities to enliven the mosque and fully utilise its facilities,” he said when visiting the mosque on Friday.

Also present were chairman of the Serian Islamic Welfare Trust Board Ustaz Mohammad Amin Dan, and project consultant Noraini Naroden.
Earlier this year, Bukit Semuja assemblyman John Ilus said that the RM7.9 million project had experienced delays under the previous contractor due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The project has since been handed over to a new contractor, with a 12-month completion timeline.
Located beside the Sadong River and Tasik Danu in Serian, the mosque will serve as a place of worship for local Muslim residents from nearby villages as well as those from across the constituency.
Once completed, the mosque will accommodate 1,700 worshippers and feature facilities such as a seminar room, multipurpose hall, daycare centre, and funeral management room.
Its strategic location and comprehensive facilities are expected to make it a central hub for both religious and community activities, further strengthening the bonds within the constituency.
