BINTANGOR: The multipurpose hall at SK Sungai Petai here is set to undergo significant upgrades under the 2025 Rural Transformation Programme (RTP).
Meradong assemblyman Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing said the planned upgrades would include improving the hall’s flooring and repairing its leaking roof.
“A public restroom will also be constructed to better accommodate school events and activities involving the local community,” he said when visiting the school today (Dec 27).
Ding added that there are plans to liaise with relevant government agencies to upgrade the main access road to the school.
This initiative aims to ease parking for visitors during school events and annual activities.
During the visit, he toured the school’s hydroponic vegetable farm, a project spearheaded by the SK Sungai Petai community.
He commended the school for its innovative efforts, noting that proceeds from the sale of the vegetables would be reinvested into the school.
“The hydroponic vegetables will be ready for sale 21 days after planting, providing an excellent opportunity for educators and students to learn modern farming techniques,” he said.
