A heart-wrenching plea has been made by the family of young Ezekiel Balan Philip, who urgently requires a RM185,000 life-saving liver transplant to save his life.
Sharonica Jones, Ezekiel’s mother, shared that 3-year old has been hospitalised for almost a month, is in critical need of a transplant as he suffers from a rare genetic disorder called Allagile Syndrome since birth – affecting the liver, heart, kidneys, eyes, and skeletal system, causing various complications.
“My son, Ezekiel, needs to undergo a Liver Transplant Surgery as soon as possible.
“And since day 1, we had planned to seek help from NGO for the crowd-funding process as the amount required is huge (RM185,000),”she shared in a Facebook post on Feb 13.
The family initially reached out to two NGOs for assistance with crowdfunding.
Unfortunately, one is already funding another patient, while the other cited the amount required being beyond their financial capacity.
With time running out, the family is desperately seeking help from other organisations or individuals who may be able to assist as the required funds for surgery have yet to be raised.
“Ezekiel has already been warded in PPUM for almost a month now and time is actually running out as Ezekiel needs a transplant as soon as possible.
“And the fund is not there yet as we have yet to have the medium (NGO) to do crowd-funding,” she added.
The transplant is scheduled to take place in China, but the process cannot begin until the necessary funds are secured.
Additionally, the paperwork, including ethical approvals from the Chinese government, could take up to a month.
This means that without immediate funding, Ezekiel’s chance for survival may be in jeopardy.
The family is now appealing to anyone who might know of an NGO capable of facilitating the crowdfunding process or anyone who can offer assistance directly. They can be contacted at 014-6337144.
In times of crisis, every bit of support can make a world of difference.
