KUCHING: The Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) Blood Bank has issued an urgent appeal for eligible members of the public to come forward and donate blood following a drop in blood supplies across all blood groups.
In its Facebook post, the hospital said blood stocks are currently at a low level, prompting the call for regular and new donors to help replenish supplies needed for patient treatment and emergency cases.
“Eligible donors who have reached the required interval since their last donation are encouraged to donate blood at the SGH Blood Bank or attend the nearest mobile blood donation campaigns,” it said.
The hospital stressed that sufficient blood supply is critical to ensure uninterrupted medical services, particularly for patients requiring transfusions due to surgery, accidents, chronic illnesses and other medical conditions.
HUS also expressed its appreciation to individuals who have consistently donated blood and supported donation efforts over time, describing them as “heroes” whose contributions continue to save lives.
To facilitate donations, the Blood Bank at SGH operates from Monday to Friday, between 8.00 am and 4.30 pm.
Members of the public are encouraged to respond promptly to the appeal to help stabilise blood stock levels and support patients in need across the state.
