ISTANBUL, Turkiye: The United States (US) goods and services trade deficit widened USD17.4 billion month-on-month to USD88.6 billion in July, Anadolu Ajansi reported, citing data released today by the Bureau of Economic Analysis.

Total exports dropped USD6.6 billion from the previous month to USD310.7 billion, while imports climbed USD10.8 billion to USD399.3 billion.

The monthly expansion in the trade gap stemmed from a USD17.6 billion increase in the goods deficit to USD119.6 billion, while the services surplus grew USD0.2 billion to USD31 billion.

Goods exports fell USD6.2 billion to USD201 billion in July, driven by a USD8.7 billion drop in industrial supplies and materials, including a USD4.5 billion decline in crude oil.

Goods imports grew USD11.4 billion to USD320.6 billion during the same period, propelled by a USD14.4 billion surge in capital goods, including computer and semiconductor imports.

Services exports declined USD0.4 billion to USD109.7 billion in July, while services imports decreased USD0.6 billion to USD78.7 billion.

From January to July, the overall goods and services deficit shrank USD188.4 billion, or 29.6 per cent, compared with the same period in 2025.

During the seven-month period, total exports increased USD237.2 billion, or 12 per cent, while imports grew USD48.8 billion, or 1.9 per cent. – BERNAMA-ANADOLU
