SEPANG: AirAsia has urged travellers to prepare early and use digital services to ensure smooth journeys during the peak holiday travel period.
With school holidays and year-end travel continuing until early February, passenger traffic is expected to remain high across domestic and international routes.
“AirAsia encourages all guests to plan ahead and follow recommended travel guidelines for a smooth and enjoyable journey,” said AirAsia in a press release on Thursday.
Guests are advised to perform self-check-in through the AirAsia MOVE app, available from 14 days until one hour before scheduled departure time.
The app, downloadable from major app stores, also provides real-time flight updates through the Flight Status tab to keep passengers informed.
“Counter check-in services are limited to guests with reduced mobility, infants, pregnant passengers, senior citizens and unaccompanied young travellers,” it said.
“Pregnant guests must complete required documentation at the airport counter while those beyond 27 weeks must present an approved medical certificate.
“Passengers requiring wheelchair assistance are encouraged to pre-book Special Assistance through My Bookings on the AirAsia MOVE app at least four hours before departure,” it said.
For international travel, guests must comply with entry and transit requirements, including visas, which may change and should be verified with relevant embassies.
AirAsia MOVE and airasia.com now allow visa uploads for seamless boarding while the Auto Visa Check feature enables real-time document verification during online check-in.
Travellers are reminded to arrive at least two hours before domestic flights and three hours before international departures during the busy holiday season.
At KLIA Terminal 2, check-in counters close one hour before departure while domestic counters at other Malaysian airports close 45 minutes earlier.
Malaysian passport holders are encouraged to download MyBorderPass for faster immigration clearance at KLIA2 using QR codes and facial recognition lanes.
“Passengers may use e-Boarding Passes and airport kiosks for baggage tagging and self-bag drop, ensuring cabin baggage limits of 7kg are strictly observed,” it added.
