TATAU: Recipients of Minor Rural Project (MRP) funds are advised to manage the allocation prudently for the benefit of the local community.
Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department and Kakus assemblyman Datuk Sri John Sikie Tayai reminded the recipients that the grants approved by the Sarawak government should be for the benefit of the local community, especially in helping the Village Development and Security Committees (JKKKs) to implement development projects such as repairing and carrying out activities in their respective longhouses.
“Use these funds as best as possible for projects that really benefit the community. Make sure careful planning is done so that there is no waste,” he said.
He said this at the handover of the MRP funds at the Tatau District Office today.
A total of RM256,000 was distributed to 18 beneficiaries including JKKK, Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs), non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in the Kakus state constituency.
He also reminded applicants to include a copy of the latest account statement in each allocation application.
“We have faced cases where the cheques had to be returned because the applicants were using old JKKK accounts. This process is not only time-consuming, but also complicates the recipient of funds,” he explained.
Sikie hopes that all recipients understood the correct administrative requirements to avoid delays in the aid distribution process.
The ceremony also witnessed the delivery of aid to flood victims through the Disaster Concern 2025 CSR programme by Sarawak Water Sdn Bhd and Sarawak Energy Berhad.
