TATAU: Recipients of Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants have been advised to utilise the funds provided responsibly.

Selangau MP Edwin Banta reminded Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK), Parent-Teacher Associations (PIBG), and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) receiving MRP grants to use the funds in accordance to the applications submitted.

“I will conduct on-site visits to monitor project implementation to ensure it aligns with the original application.

“Carry out projects based on priorities and the benefits they bring to longhouse residents,” he said during the presentation of MRP grants and educational assistance totaling RM662,300 at the Tatau District Office, recently.

In addition, he emphasised the importance of community leaders and longhouse chiefs actively attending government-organised programmes to ensure they stay updated on the latest government policies.

Banta also highlighted that education remains one of his main focuses as a representative, aside from socioeconomic development.

“Last year alone, more than RM100,000 was allocated to students from the Selangau parliamentary area pursuing higher education.

“This year, RM662,300 has been distributed to 34 JKKKs, PIBGs, clubs, associations, and as educational assistance to 16 recipients today,” he explained.

In conjunction with the upcoming Chinese New Year celebrations, he also distributed mandarin oranges to the Chinese community here.
