BETONG: Residents in rural areas, especially those in Betong, are urged to register for the digital identity app, SarawakPass, to take full advantage of the state’s digital public services.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the platform allows users to conveniently access information and apply for various state government services online, replacing lengthy manual procedures.

“With SarawakPass, there’s no need to fill out paper forms anymore. In the past, applying for any service could take up dozens of pages,” he said.

“Now, everything is available online, transparent and efficient – whether it’s for subsidies, livestock schemes, or agriculture development assistance.

“This is a new way of life that we must adopt and make full use of here in Betong,” he said at the launch of the Sarawak Service Centre Betong here today.

Uggah also highlighted Betong’s rapid development, noting several major infrastructure projects nearing completion, including the new airport located just 15 minutes from town, the Collecting, Processing and Packaging Centre (CPPC) about 30 minutes away, and several bridges and roads such as Batang Lupar II Bridge, Batang Saribas I and II Bridges, to name a few.

“Betong is fortunate that many projects have been planned and are progressing well. This development is possible because of the visionary leadership of our Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, who is bold, intelligent, and capable of generating revenue for the state,” Uggah said.

He stressed that the state government’s infrastructure drive reflects its commitment to ensuring that all Sarawakians including those in rural regions enjoy improved connectivity and better livelihoods.

“Every new road built is a way for us to serve the people. It’s the Premier’s way of helping those still lacking proper road access. By 2030, under his leadership, Sarawak will become a developed and prosperous state where everyone enjoys economic growth, social inclusivity, and overall well-being,” he added.

Uggah also called on the people of Betong to work hard, stay united, and continue supporting the state government’s efforts toward achieving the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 vision.

“We must remain united across all races, religions, and communities and give our full support to the Premier so that by 2030, Sarawak continues to progress, our children are successful, and our people prosper,” he said.
