KUCHING: The Utama Toastmasters Club in Kuching is set to host its annual speech contests on Feb 20, inviting the public to witness a showcase of exceptional public speaking talent.
The competition will feature three categories: the International Speech Contest, Evaluation Contest, and Table Topics (Impromptu Speech) Contest.
The event will take place at Kuching Community Social Support Centre (CSSC), Wisma Ho Ho Lim, 291, Jalan Abell, at 7pm. To accommodate those unable to attend in person, the contests will also be streamed live via Zoom.
“Toastmasters speech contests provide an invaluable platform for participants to refine their speaking skills while offering the audience a chance to learn from accomplished speakers.
“It’s an excellent opportunity for both members and the public to witness the power of effective communication,” said organising chair and vice-president of education at Utama Toastmasters Club,
Amanda Lee, through a press statement on Thursday (Feb 6).
Trophies will be awarded to the top three winners in each category, with the top two contestants advancing to the area contest in March 2025.
“The event also serves as an opportunity for attendees to learn about the Toastmasters International programme, which helps individuals develop essential communication and leadership skills in a supportive environment.”
Toastmasters International is a nonprofit educational organisation dedicated to empowering individuals through structured learning, fostering both personal and professional growth.
