KUCHING: A van parked at the traffic light at Jalan Datuk Marican Salleh was caught on fire at 4.55pm yesterday (June 23).
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), in a statement, said a team from Tabuan Jaya fire station was despatched to the scene after they received a distress call pertaining to the incident.
Upon arrival, the firefighters found that the fire had already totally engulfed the van, and they immediately performed extinguishing work.
The 43-year-old driver managed to escape and was unharmed.
The fire was fully extinguished, and the operation ended at 6.03pm.
After ensuring the area was safe for road users, the firefighters returned to their station.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
