CYBERJAYA: A 20-year-old university student from Kuching, was found dead in her dormitory room at the Mutiara Ville condominium in Cyberjaya on Tuesday morning (Jun 24), prompting police to open a murder investigation.

The student, who was pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy at a private university, was discovered unconscious with head injuries by a friend at around 10 am.

The friend immediately contacted the police.

Sepang police chief ACP Norhizam Bahaman confirmed that police received the report at 10.28 am.

“Initial investigations found no signs of forced entry into the unit.

“However, wounds were found on the victim’s head,” he said in a statement.

An autopsy later confirmed that she died from blunt force trauma to the head, and the police also clarified that there were no indications of sexual assault.

According to sources, the victim had been staying in the unit with five other housemates, but they had all returned to their hometowns for the semester break on Jun 21, leaving her alone in the room as she was preparing for upcoming examinations.

Several of the victim’s personal belongings, including her laptop, are believed to be missing.

Authorities have yet to confirm whether these points point to a motive for robbery.

Videos circulating on social media showed police officers removing the body from the scene, which has since been taken to a hospital for further examination.

The incident has shocked both the local and university communities.

Police said a formal statement will be released as the investigation continues.

They are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward to assist with the case.
