KUCHING: A 55-year-old e-hailing driver won the RM19-million Toto 4D Jackpot 1 on July 19 by betting on his vehicles’ registration numbers.
STM Lottery Sdn Bhd said in its statement that the lucky winner had been a loyal Sports Toto player for a very long time and this was actually the first time he won a lottery.
“When he came home on Saturday night after ending his drive, he sat in the car and checked his Toto tickets.
“When he saw the first 4D number matched the second prize, his heart was racing, and when he saw his other 4D number matched the first prize, he screamed in his car as he realised that he had won the jackpot!” it said.
The lottery company added that the pair of winning numbers, 6570 and 7068, was actually the vehicle registration numbers of his motorcycle and the first car he owned.
“He would always bet on the car number of his old car due to sentimental value,” it added.
The winner bought a System 3 ticket which won him a whopping RM19,018,092.30 and another RM336 as System Play bonus.
STM Lottery added that the lucky winner would continue to work as an e-hailing driver.
He planned to share the winnings with his wife, children and siblings, as well as start investing to ensure a sustainable wealth generation.
