MIRI: Veteran players from government departments took centre stage at the ‘YB Datuk Gerawat Gala Cup 2025’, promoting camaraderie and active lifestyles among civil servants through a spirited football tournament held in conjunction with Labour Day.

Organised by Kelab Rekreasi Petroliam (KRP), in collaboration with Playmaker Sports and partners, the invitational tournament was hosted at the KRP Football Field on May 3 and 4.

Featuring teams made up of seasoned government personnel, a statement issued by the organisers said the competition not only honours the dedication of workers but also promotes a healthy, active lifestyle for veteran athletes.

The event was officiated by Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Labour, Immigration and Project Monitoring), Datuk Gerawat Gala, who also launched the tournament and interacted warmly with players.

Joining Gerawat to officiate the kickoff was Sarawak Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry Director, Matthew Dominic Barin, who also took part in the tournament as a player.
